BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
6 med. onions
4 qt. cucumbers, unpeeled
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1/3 c. salt
2 trays ice cubes
3 c. white vinegar
5 c. white sugar
1 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. mustard seed

Slice cucumbers very thin. Slice white onions, green and red peppers thin. Place salt and ice cubes over cucumbers, onion and peppers; let stand for 3 hours, then drain.

Heat white vinegar, sugar, turmeric powder, celery seed, mustard seed, slowly then add cucumbers and cook. Do not boil just simmer to light green in color. Put in jars and seal.
