MANDEL BREAD
1/4 lb. butter
1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
Raisins and chopped or slivered almonds (walnuts may also be used)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream butter and sugar in a mixer. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each egg. Add baking powder and vanilla. Add flour slowly. Dough may get thick. Stir in nuts and raisins.

On a greased cookie sheet, make 2 loaves of dough and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Take out baked loaves and slice into 1 inch pieces. Separate pieces and put back in oven for 5 minutes to get crisp.

(This is my mother Lillian Ednas's recipe.)
