1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. flour
2 c. applesauce
1/2 tsp. salt

Beat together shortening, sugar and eggs. Add applesauce. Mix in sifted dry ingredients.

Bake in greased 9"x13" pan or bar pan at 300 degrees for 20 minutes or until done.

TOPPING: Sprinkle 1/2 to 1 cup chocolate chips and 3 tablespoons sugar over top. Or frost with chocolate frosting.
