APPLE MEATBALLS | |
1 lb. ground beef 1/2 c. chopped, peeled apple 1/4 c. fine dry bread crumbs 1/4 c. chopped onion 1 egg 1 tsp. salt 1 env. (3/4 oz.) brown gravy mix 1 c. water Olive oil Combine ground beef, apples, bread crumbs, onion, egg and salt. Shape into 18-20 meatballs. Brown on all sides in little olive oil. Shake pan occasionally to keep meatballs round. Remove meatballs from skillet. Drain off grease but leave brown bits in pan. Add gravy mix and water to pan. Mix well. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer, covered 15 minutes until thickened. Place meatballs in gravy and heat to serving temperature. 6 servings. Notes: Meatballs may be placed in greased oblong pan and baked in oven. Instead of Brown Gravy Mix use 1 can tomato soup, some chopped or dried onion and 1 cube or 1 teaspoon beef bouillon. |
