HEALTHY GRANOLA BARS - EASY!
2 cups trail mix (Go to the bulk bins - mix several varieties of fruit and nuts. Even add in some flax seeds to make it extra healthy)
2 cups oatmeal
1/3 cup milk chocolate chips (optional - but recommended)
3 ripe bananas
1 egg
2 tbsp. honey

Pre-heat oven to 350°F.

In a Large bowl combine trail mix (even add in some flax seeds to make it extra healthy), chocolate chips and oatmeal. In a smaller bowl mash the bananas, then add your egg and honey and mix it all together. Add the banana mixture to the trail mix and stir it all together making sure everything is evenly coated.

Press the mixture into a greased 12 X 9-inch cake pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until edges are brown. Allow to cool, cut and enjoy!

The fun part about this recipe is that you can add as little or as much of your favorite nuts and dried fruit as you like. Pumpkin seeds, soy nuts and sesame seeds taste great! Even add cinnamon or nutmeg for some added flavor. Alternatively you can also leave the chocolate chips out, and then melt them later and spread them over the top of the bars.

Wow, I should have looked at this first before baking the granola bars I have in the oven now. I just realized that it has a lot of honey and sugar.

I made my first batch of homemade granola bars this weekend and it called for pumpkin (which I love) but had lots of sugar and honey in it along with butterscotch chips. Can't wait to try these, plan on subing the pumpkin for banana and make a healthier version of my first attempt.

These are delicious and so easy to make! I made a third batch using applesauce instead of bananas (I was out of bananas after making the first 2 batches) and 2 tbsp of cashew butter. My entire family gobbled them up! Thanks for the recipe!!

These tasted ok, but not the consistency that I was hoping for. These are more like a spongy cookie texture, not a dense sticky chewy granola bar that I was seeking. I think I may need a recipe without egg? The search continues.....

My husband LOVES these granola bars and asks me to make them all the time. I make them using all organic ingredients and I think it gives them even more of an edge. Thanks for a simple, easy, and healthy recipe that helps soothe the savage beast of my active hubby's hunger!

Great recipe. This was my first time making granola bars. I browsed quite a few looking for something with minimal added sugar and no butter or fats! Your recipe was perfect. I only had 2 ripe bananas so I added about 3 tbsp. of peanut butter for the 3rd banana. I added flax seeds as suggested and some oat bran for more nutrition. I will definitely make this again!

I used your recipe and they turned out great, except I didn't use the banana and instead I used a little bit of almond milk, a scoop of peanut butter, and a scoop of weigh protein (to make a protein bar) and it mixed well. Thanks for the recipe.

Delicious! I was looking everywhere for a granola bar recipe without too much added sugar. Everything called for lots of honey and brown sugar. This was just right. Thanks!

I'm sure you can freeze them for quite awhile.. I used to work in a deli/coffee shop that made granola bars and froze them all the time.. and they always tasted great.
I don't remember how long they were frozen for. I guess maybe no more than 3 months...
