JANHAGEL COOKIES (BAR) 
1 c. butter, melted
1 c. sugar
1 egg, separated
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. chopped pecans or almonds

Combine butter and sugar. Blend well; add egg yolk. Stir in flour and spice; press mixture into greased, wax paper lined, 15 x 10 x 1 inch jelly roll pan. Beat egg white until frothy. Spread over cookie mixture. Sprinkle with pecans or almonds. Bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees until light brown. Let cool 5 minutes before cutting into 2 x 3 inch rectangle. Yields 2 dozen bars.
