ONION CREAM SOUP 
2 lg. onions
2 tbsp. butter
4 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp flour
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp.white pepper
2 c. boiling water
1 qt. milk
1 c. mashed potatoes
Croutons

Fry sliced onions in butter until lightly browned. Add cornstarch and flour, salt and pepper, stir until browned. Gradually pour boiling water in and stir until smooth. Scald milk and pour on mashed potatoes. Pour into onion mixture. Stir and simmer. Add croutons to top before serving.
