HOMEMADE ROLLS 
1 1/4 c. warm water
1 pkg. dry yeast, dissolve in water
3/4 c. lukewarm milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/4 c. soft shortening
3 1/2-3 1/4 c. flour

Add to dissolved yeast all ingredients plus 1/2 of flour. Add enough flour to handle easily. Mix with hands until elastic. Knead about 5 minutes.

Round up in a greased bowl; greased side up. Let rise 1 hour and 1/2 damp cloth punch down rise about 30 minutes. 12 thick, placed on greased baking sheet rise until double, 12-15 minutes at 400 degrees.
