RED VELVET POUND CAKE 
1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cup sugar
7 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 (1 oz.) bottle red food color
3 cups cake flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup milk

Combine butter, shortening and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and food coloring. Combine salt and flour, add to cream mixture alternatively with milk, bearing well. Pour batter into a greased, floured 10 inch tube pan.

Bake at 325°F about 1 hour and 20 minutes. Cook cake completely. Frost with cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting:

1/2 cup butter, softened
2 (3 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine butter and cheese, blend until smooth. Stir in vanilla and sugar. Beat until creamy adding enough milk to spread.
