PAN DE POLVO | |
10 c. flour 1 tbsp. baking powder 4 c. shortening 1 c. sugar Pinch salt 1/2 c. of tea of cinnamon (If desired you can use half lard, half Crisco). (To make tea, bring to boil 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 package of cinnamon sticks). Measure in a separate bowl the flour and baking powder and set aside. Mix in another bowl the sugar and shortening until smooth. Pour in the tea and mix until smooth. Add a pinch of salt. Start adding the flour little by little to the mixture, until you make a real soft dough. To be sure the dough is ready to roll out, take a small portion and roll it in your hand to form a toothpick. Shape it into a ring and if it doesn't break then it is ready to be rolled out. roll between wax paper and cut out the cookies. Bake at 325 degrees in an electric and 350 degrees in a gas oven for 8 minutes. This recipe is also known as Mexican Wedding Cookies. |
