SPICED STRAWBERRY PRESERVES 
6 c. ripe strawberries, stems removed
5 c. sugar
2 whole allspice
1/3 c. lemon juice

Combine berries and sugar in large bowl. Let stand 4 to 5 hours, stirring occasionally. Turn mixture into large saucepan. Add allspice and bring to boil over moderately high heat, stirring occasionally. Boil 10 to 12 minutes. Add lemon juice and boil 5 minutes longer. Remove from heat and ladle into hot sterilized jars. Seal with 1/8 inch paraffin or canning lids. Yield: 5 half- pint jars.
