EASY PORK CHOP AND APPLE BAKE
Allow one large 1/2" thick chop and one medium apple per person.

Slice apples thin and place half on bottom of baking pan. Place salted chops on apples. Place another layer of apple on top of chops. Sprinkle lightly with brown sugar (about 1 tablespoon per apple). Place in hot oven, 400 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove and baste with own liquid. Cover and bake another 30 minutes. You may need to add 2 or 3 tablespoons water to baste chops with.

Gretchen: Why don't you try putting the apples in the bottom of the pan with a small amount of water and let them cook 15 minutes or so before adding the chops and the next layer of apples? I have not personally tried this, but I think it could work! If you try it, please post your comments!

This sounded interesting. As usual on the first try I followed the recipe exactly. The apples needed more cooking after the first 45 minutes, but by the time the next 30 were up the chops were way overcooked. The apples made it tasty but how to get the apples cooked properly without overcooking the chops!
