INDEPENDENCE DAY CAKE (4TH OF
JULY)
 
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
2 egg yolks
1/4 tsp. orange extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1 1/2 c. cake flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk

Cream salt, sugar and butter. Beat in egg yolks until light and fluffy. Add extracts. Sift flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter. Turn into 9-inch square pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
