CRUST: 1 c. boiling water 1 c. Crisco shortening 3 c. flour 2 tsp. salt FILLING: 1 lb. (1/4 lb. per person) Meat (hamburger or pastie meat) 4 to 5 potatoes Onions dried 1lb. carrots Parsley Salt and pepper 1 lb. shredded cheese Crust: Melt shortening in boiling water (15 to 20 minutes). Stir in 3 cups flour and teaspoon salt. Stick in refrigerator for 1 hour (or more) to cool. (Cover). Divide dough into 5 to 6 balls, roll out on floured board into a rectangle. Make meat into meat balls or cut meat into bite size pieces. Peel and cut potatoes into pieces. Slice carrots into pieces. For each rectangle find middle and fill 1/2 with filling for one person. (Divide filling into 5 or 6 servings) about 6 meat balls per person. Fold rectangle over filling. Seal edges together like a pie crust. (Wet sides to seal if you need to). Cook at 350 degrees for 1 hour. |
