HOMEMADE TWINKIES 
1 pkg. yellow cake mix

Bake cake as directed in 9 x 12-inch pan. Remove from pan, cool and split cake through the middle. 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. butter 1 c. milk 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. Crisco 1 tsp. vanilla

Mix flour with milk; boil until thick. Cool. Beat until fluffy, then add other ingredients, beating as you add each one. Spread filling over one cake layer and top with other layer. Let set one day to develop flavor. Cut cake into the shapes of Hostess Twinkies.
