VAL'S OLD FASHION HOMEMADE APPLE
PIE

3/4 c. butter
4 tbsp. cold water
2 c. flour

Cut up to resemble coarse meal. Add 4 tablespoons cold water. Work with hands to form a ball. Cut ball in half. Roll out between 2 sheets of wax paper. Makes a double crust. One for top of pie, one for bottom.

FILLING:

6-8 apples
2 tbsp. cornstarch
Butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon

Peel and core and slice apples into bottom pie crust in mound toward center. Mix in bowl sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apples. Dot with several squares of butter. Put on top crust. Baste top crust with a little melted butter. This will give crust a golden color. Cover pie with foil loosely for the first 40 minutes. Remove foil for the last 20 minutes so crust may brown lightly. Total cooking time at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Serves 6 to 8.
