APPLE COBBLER
3 tbsp. butter for sauteing apples
2 lbs. cooking apples, cored, peeled & sliced
1/2 c. raisins
1 1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 lb. butter, melted (use microwave)
1 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for topping

Heat a frying pan and add the 3 tablespoons butter. Put the apples and raisins in the pan and saute for a few minutes over medium heat until they are tender. Add 1/4 cup of the sugar, and the spices, stir and set aside.

Pour the melted butter onto the baking dish. Mix the remaining cup of sugar with the flour, baking powder, and the salt. Mix well and stir in the milk. Spread this batter on top of the butter.

Pour the apple mixture over the batter and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 50 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.

Serve this warm, topped with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
