DEVILISH MARSHMALLOW COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. butter flavoring
21 lg. marshmallows, cut in half (approximately)

Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine flour, soda, salt, and cocoa. Add to creamed mixture; mix well. Stir in flavoring. Dough will be stiff. Chill dough at least 30 minutes. Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes. Place a marshmallow half on each cookie. Bake an additional 2 minutes. Cool. Frost cookies. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.

FROSTING:

1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
2 c. powdered sugar

Combine first 3 ingredients in saucepan. Cook over low heat until chips melt. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Add extra milk, if necessary. Frost cookies. Yield: 1 cup.
