BANANA NUT BREAD 
2/3 c. sugar
1/3 c. soft shortening
2 eggs
3 tbsp. buttermilk
1 c. (2 or 3) mashed bananas
2 c. self-rising flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together thoroughly sugar, shortening, and eggs. Stir in buttermilk, mashed bananas, and flour, then stir in soda and fold in chopped nuts. Bake in bread loaf pan for 50 to 60 minutes.
