BUTTER CAKE 
1/2 c butter
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 c sugar
2 large eggs
1 1/2 c cake flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/3 c milk

Preheat oven to 325°F for electric or 350 for gas. Use an electric mixer, beat butter and vanilla until light and creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until light. Add eggs one at a time, beating well each time. Stir in 1/2 of flour, powder and milk, beat until smooth. Add remaining flour, powder and milk until smooth. Spread into a prepared pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until done.
