3 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tbsp. grated orange peel
1/4 c. orange juice
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Cream shortening, butter, brown sugar and eggs. Add orange peel, orange juice and vanilla. Beat well. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk. Beat until blended. Add nuts and blend. On greased cookie sheet drop cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. I frost with a powdered sugar glaze.
