STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 c. sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. milk

Sift dry ingredients into mixing bowl. Cut in shortening; add milk and vanilla to beaten egg. Add liquid to dry ingredients. Mix smooth and turn out on a floured board. Pat to 1/2 inch thickness. Cut with biscuit cutter. Bake on cookie sheet. Split biscuit; butter and fill with fruit. Top with more fruit and whipped cream or ice cream. Five cups of strawberries halved and sweetened are needed.
