RED DEVIL'S FOOD CAKE 
2 beaten eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. boiling water
2 tsp. baking soda dissolved in 1/2 c. sweet milk
2 c. flour

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and cocoa; beat all together until well blended. Then add milk and soda alternately with flour. Add vanilla and lastly the boiling water. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan.
