DARK FRUIT CAKE | |
2 lb. raisins 2 lb. currants 2 lb. nuts 1 lb. of following: candied citron, figs, pineapple, cherries, mixed fruit 4 c. flour 3/4 lb. butter 1 lb. brown sugar 1 doz. eggs 1 c. molasses 2 tsp. nutmeg 3 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. baking powder 1 (8 oz.) fruit juice Sift together flour, soda and baking powder. Cream sugar and butter; add eggs and beat well. Add molasses. Add fruit juice. Mix all spices with flour, flour all fruit and nuts with 1/2 flour. Fold 1/2 cup flour and 1 cup of fruit mixture. Fold in this way until all fruit and flour is in. Bake in slow oven at 250 degrees until done in container of your choice. |
