DEEP DISH APPLE PIE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
12 c. apples, thinly sliced
2 tbsp. butter
Pastry for 1 9-inch pie

Stir together sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt. Mix together with apples. Turn into ungreased square pan and dot with butter. Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry as directed, except roll into 10 inch square. Fold pastry in half; cut slits near center. Unfold over fruit in pan, fold edges under fruit inside edge of pan. Bake for 1 hour or until juice begins to bubble through slits in center. Best served warm.
