1/4 lb. butter 3/4 c. sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 4 oz. almonds 1 oz. filberts 1 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder Roast the nuts about 7 minutes in oven and chop coarsely. Mix butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, flour and baking powder. Add the chopped nuts to this, and after that, the other cup flour and teaspoon baking powder. With hands, shape dough into 3 small loaves. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in 325 degree oven for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove from oven and cut diagonally into 1/2 inch thick slices. Place, cut side down, on cookie sheet and brown in oven for 5 to 10 minutes, not too brown. Makes 3 1/2 dozen. |
