GINGER CAKE WITH LEMON SAUCE 
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. molasses
1 tsp. ginger

Mix together in order given, then add 1 cup hot water with 1 teaspoon baking soda added. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.

LEMON SAUCE:

2 lemons and the grated rind of one
1 1/4 c. white sugar
2 1/2 c. water and a little butter
Pinch of salt

Bring lemon juice, rind, sugar, salt, water and butter to a boil. Add a paste made of 1 heaping tablespoon cornstarch, 2 egg yolks, and a little water. Cook with everything until it thickens. Serve warm lemon sauce over cake and top with whipped cream.
