SOUTHERN PIE 
3/4 c. Grape Nut cereal
1/2 c. warm water
3 eggs, well beaten
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. dark corn syrup
3 tbsp. butter, melted
1 tsp. vanilla
1/8 tsp. salt
1 (9") unbaked pie shell
Prepared whipped topping or Cool Whip

Combine cereal and water; let stand until the water is absorbed.

Meanwhile, blend sugar and eggs; add syrup, butter, vanilla and salt. Fold in the softened cereal. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until the filling is puffed completely across the top. Cool and garnish with whipped topping.
