KAREN'S ALMOND POUND CAKE 
2 sticks butter
1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. sifted cake flour
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. sugar
5 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. almond extract

Cream. Add sugar and beat well until blended. Add eggs, one at a time and beat until fluffy. Sprinkle in salt. Alternate adding flour with milk, one cup of flour at a time, ending with flour. Add flavorings. Beat until blended.

Grease and flour a tube pan. Put batter into pan. Put pan in a COLD oven. Turn to 350 degrees. Cook approximately 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours. Keep checking with a long toothpick or broom doodad until it comes out clean. After it cools for 5 or 10 minutes, turn onto rack or cake plate - then dust with powdered sugar.
