2 pkg. yeast 1 c. warm water 1 tsp. sugar 7 to 8 c. flour 2 c. hot water 2 tbsp. shortening 1 tbsp. salt 2 tbsp. sugar First 3 ingredients in bowl and set 10 minutes in a warm place, then add to the next mixture. Second mixture is hot water in large bowl (cool slightly), shortening, salt and remaining sugar. Warm flour over flame of oven top in a dish; move fast until warm. Add yeast mixture and knead 500 times (about 7 to 10 minutes), then place in greased pan and let rise. Then knead 100 times; rise again and knead down. Place in buns and roll about third time. Let buns rest in pan and bake until golden. |
