CONGO SQUARES 
2/3 c. shortening (Crisco)
1 lb. brown sugar
3 eggs
2 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts
1 pkg. chocolate bits

Melt shortening and remove from heat. Add sugar then eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients and mix. Stir in nuts and chocolate bits.

Spread into a greased and floured 9x13-inch pan and bake for 25 minutes at 350°F.
