SKILLET CASSEROLE | |
1 ring Hillshire smoked sausage 1 box Betty Crocker au gratin potatoes 1 bunch fresh broccoli 5-6 med. carrots Layer in skillet. Cut sausage in 3/4 inch pieces and put in bottom of large skillet. Add dry potatoes plus the dry cheese. Pour 2 1/2 cups boiling water over all. Add strips of carrots (cut like carrot stocks) and broccoli strips around over the top. Put lid on skillet. Cook over medium heat until boiling then reduce to low so vegetables will steam cook. Avoid high heat or sausage will burn. Cook until vegetables are done, about 30-40 minutes. Lay about 4 slices of American cheese on top and melt down through. Serve. Is a one dish meal. Can alter amount of carrots and broccoli to suit. Serves 5-6. P.S. Have broccoli and carrots prepared before pouring boiling water over first 2 ingredients. |
