SWEET CRISP PICKLES 
10 med. cucumbers
8 c. sugar
2 tbsp. mixed pickling spices
4 c. vinegar
5 tsp. salt

Pour hot water over cucumbers until covered. Let stand overnight. Drain in morning. Repeat for 4 days. On the fifth day, drain and slice to desired thickness.

Combine sugar, vinegar, salt, and spices in pan and boil, melting sugar. Pour over cucumbers. Let stand for 2 days. On third day, bring to JUST a boil, put in jars and seal. About 6 quarts. May multiply recipe.
