3 c. sugar 3/4 c. butter 2/3 c. evaporated milk 2 c. (lg. bag - 20 oz.) chocolate chips 1 (7 oz.) jar marshmallow creme 1 c. chopped nuts 1 tsp. vanilla In a medium pot put sugar, butter and evaporated milk. Bring to a full rolling boil. Stirring constantly, boil 5 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate pieces until melted. Add marshmallow creme, nuts and vanilla. Beat until well blended. Pour into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Cool at room temperature to harden. Cut into squares. May be refrigerated. Quick & easy candy for kids to make. Jeanette Lupis, Home Economics MERINGUE KISSES 3 egg whites 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar 1/4 tsp. peppermint extract 1 c. sugar 36 candy kisses Using an electric mixer on high, beat the egg whites, cream of tartar, vanilla and extract. Beat until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar as you continue beating. Beat until stiff peaks form (do not beat until dry). Prepare cookie sheet by cutting out brown paper to fit the size of the cookie sheet. Do not grease. Drop by teaspoonful onto paper on cookie sheet. Gently press a candy kiss into each one. Using a butter knife, swirl meringue over top of candy. Sprinkle with colored sugar crystals, if desired. Bake at 275 degrees for 30 minutes. Allow to cool thoroughly before removing. |
