3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg whites, unbeaten

Combine above. Mix well. Add boiling water. Beat with electric mixer until mixture stands in erect peaks.

This was my Mother's recipe for our birthday cakes (either angel or Sunshine). It is still used and popular.
