TEXAS BEER CHILI | |
![]() 2 lbs. ground beef 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 (16 oz.) can pinto beans 2 tbsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. oregano 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. salt (to taste) 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper or to taste 1 (16 oz.) can whole peeled tomatoes 1 (12 oz.) can favorite beer 1 onion, chopped Cook ground beef in frying pan and drain liquid. Mix beef in large pot with tomato sauce, pinto beans and chopped up can of peeled tomatoes. Add chili powder, oregano, garlic, your favorite beer or 12 ounces of water. Salt lightly to taste and add 1 onion if desired. Simmer for 10 minutes and then carefully add cayenne pepper. One teaspoon will be quite hot so you may want to try adding a small amount at a time. Stir pepper in slowly and cook another 5 minutes. This chili tastes even better the next day and you can also try different kinds of beans as a variation. Also works well with chili meat, steak and excellent with venison (white tail deer) instead of hamburger. Serves 8 people. |
