PUFF PASTRY | |
1 c. flour 1/2 c. butter 1/4 c. water 1 tsp. almond extract 1/2 c. butter 1 c. water 1 c. flour 3 eggs Mix the first cup flour, butter and water, chill and then divide in half. Press in 2 long strips, 3 inches wide. Place on cookie sheet. Bring to boil second 1/2 cup butter and water. Add the 1 cup flour, stir until a ball forms, 1 minute or so. Then add almond extract. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Spread this over pastry strips. Bake in 400 degree oven for 40-45 minutes. Turn heat off and cool slowly in oven for at least an hour. ICING: Mix powdered sugar, butter, 1/4 teaspoon almond extract, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract and milk to thin. Spread on pastry and sprinkle with chopped walnuts or almonds. 2 large pastries |
