PASTIES
Use frozen Pillsbury pie crust (2 in a package); thaw thoroughly first (you can use microwave thawing for about 10 seconds). 2 potatoes, peeled and sliced thin Onion or onion salt Salt and pepper Butter A couple of slices bacon (if you cook it first, your pasty won't be quite as rich)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Roll pie crust out into a circle. Sliced potatoes should be placed on the bottom, covering half of the circle of dough. Layer the round steak next. If the bacon has been precooked, crumble it over the steak. If you don't cook it first, lay 1 slice over the top of the mixture. Add either onion slices or onion powder. Salt and pepper to taste. Put 1 small pat of butter on top. Wet the edge of the pie crust all the way around and carefully fold 1/2 over the other with the filling. Pinch to seal.

Cut a small hole in the top of the pastry. Bake in 350 degree oven on a baking sheet for 55 minutes. You may want to reduce the heat to 325 degrees after 15 minutes. After 55 minutes, add 1 tablespoon of hot water to the hole in the top of the pastie. You may mix all ingredients into a bowl and put onto the pie crust if you like. After you have made them a couple of times, your family may express certain preferences such as no onion, bacon, or whatever. To identify each person's pastry, cut an initial into the top of each of them. Sometimes I will brown the beef before putting into the pastry mix. You may substitute other meats; add carrots, etc. according to your preference. This recipe will make 2 pasties.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
