HARVEY'S SAWMILL GRAVY 
4 (1 1/2 oz.) hot sausage patties
3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 c. milk
1/8 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

In a saucepan, fry sausage patties, drain and keep warm. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons grease. Blend in flour and brown stirring constantly. Gradually add milk, mixing well. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer. Crumble sausage patties and add to gravy along with salt and pepper. Simmer 2 minutes. Serve over hot, open faced biscuits. Recipe originated at a South Georgia sawmill in the 1800's.

I'm an almost 21 year old college student and I just finished cooking this recipe for the first time. It was also my first time making gravy--period. It is delicious!!! It tastes just like the stuff in the package that you can buy from Kroger. :) Some alterations: My dad was making bacon so I used that grease instead and I doubled the recipe so we would have enough for everybody. This is a GREAT recipe!!!
