3 c. flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. liquid or solid shortening
2 eggs
1 can beer
2 c. dates
1 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes.
