CORN BREAD DRESSING | |
1 (10 x 12) cake of baked corn bread 1 c. crumbled white bread 1 lg. onion 2 tsp. chili powder 6 native red peppers, crushed 1 c. bacon drippings 2 c. water Moisten the bread with water and 1/2 of drippings. Crumble thoroughly. Add other seasonings and mix well. Pour into any baking dish smooth off and pour remaining fryings over top. Bake at 350 degrees or until brown. This may be used to stuff a 12 pound turkey and any other fowl. The early Irish settlers of South Texas called it cush and served it with milk gravy. |
