2 c. sugar
2 c. white flour
1 c. whole wheat flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 eggs
1 c. oil
1 tbsp. vanilla
3 c. diced apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. cloves

Mix sugar, eggs and oil together. Add sifted dry ingredients. Add vanilla, apples and nuts; pour into a greased tube pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 1 hour.

FROSTING FOR APPLE CAKE:

1 stick butter
1 c. brown sugar
1/4 c. evaporated milk

Cook 2 1/2 minutes and pour over cake while still hot. I find that half of the frosting recipe is enough.
