TREASURE CHEST BARS 
2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 c. maraschino cherries, chopped
1 c. peanuts or mixed nuts

Grease and flour a jelly roll pan. Combine first 9 ingredients. Mix as for pie dough. When well mixed, add chips, cherries and nuts. Spread in pan and bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees until lightly browned.

ICING:

2 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. softened butter
2-3 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2-1 sq. chocolate

Mix sugar, butter, milk and vanilla well. Spread on warm cookies in pan. Melt the chocolate and drizzle over icing. Cool and cut to size.
