ROCK CANDY 
2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. white Karo syrup
1 tsp. anise or mint flavoring
1/2 c. water
Pinch of salt
Food coloring to please

Mix sugar, syrup, water, and salt in saucepan. Heat to hard crack stage on candy thermometer. Remove from heat and quickly add food coloring and flavoring. Stir. Pour into buttered 9x13 inch pan. Cool and crack into pieces. Also good dusted with powdered sugar after cooled and cracked.
