DATE NUT PUDDING 
1 c. boiling water
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 lb. dates (cut up)

Mix above 3 ingredients together and let stand for a few minutes, then add: 1 egg 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 c. nuts

Pour into baking dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour or until done. Cut into squares and top with whipped cream or Cool Whip. Delicious any time but especially at holiday time.
