Place ham in baking pan. Pour about 3/4 cup (more or less) of apple cider vinegar over ham.
Press about 3/4 cup to 1 1/2 cups brown sugar onto ham surface and sprinkle with some dry mustard and whole or ground cloves.
Add about 1/2 cup water to baking pan and drop in a couple of bay leaves. Bake at 325 degrees for a couple of hours, depending on the size of the ham.
The key is to baste the ham frequently with the brown sugar liquid that has accumulated in the bottom of the pan. Even after you remove it from the oven, continue to baste it while the liquid and ham are still hot.
