DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 c. shortening
1 c. corn flakes
3/4 to 1 c. sugar
1 egg white
1 tsp. salt
1 egg yolk
8 to 10 tart apples
1 tsp. cinnamon

Combine flour and salt, cut in shortening. Beat egg yolk in measuring cup and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup, mixing well, stir into flour. On floured surface roll half dough to 17 x 12 inch rectangle, fit in and up sides in a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch pan. Sprinkle with corn flakes. Top with apple. Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on top.

Roll rest of dough to 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches and place over apples, seal edges. Beat egg white until frothy. Brush on crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 minutes. Combine 1 cup xxx sugar and 3 or 4 teaspoons milk. Drizzle on bars while warm. Makes 3 dozen bars.
