DUMPLINGS 
2 tbsp. cornmeal
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. butter

Make dumplings, put flour into bowl and mix dry ingredients. rub in butter with 2 knives or pastry blender. Make a well in the middle and add liquid. Cut and stir until well blended (it may need a little more flour). Form into small balls. Flatten slightly and press together in the middle. It may be necessary to add more liquid to the soup. Allow to come to the boil, stir correct seasoning and now add dumplings, one at a time to the soup. Cook for about 30 minutes longer. Serve hot.
