FRIED APPLE RINGS 
2 tart apples
4 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. sugar

Core the apple, peel them only if the skins are very tough. Cut them in 1/2 inch slices and saute the slices in butter until just barely tender. Sprinkle with sugar. Cover the pan and cook a few minutes more until they are glazed and golden. Serve with ham, pork dishes or duck.
