3 c. flour
2 c. sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
2/3 c. oil
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. vinegar
2 c. cold water
1 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix dry ingredients together until well blended (do all mixing in 1 large bowl). Make 3 holes in dry ingredients. In the first hole place the oil, in the second hole place the vanilla and in the third hole the vinegar. Do Not Stir. Immediately pour the 2 cups of cold water over this. Then mix well. Add walnuts and mix (if desired).

Bake for 35-40 minutes in a greased and floured 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cool for 10 minutes and remove from pan. Frost as desired.
